We’re pleased to share that our EMEA team attended the WELL 2026 Climate & Health Summit on 8 June 2026 in Paris. John Harrison, our Senior Manager EMEA, and Alvin Monarrez, LEED AP ID+C, Director EMEA at BEE Retail, represented BEE Retail and BEE Incorporations.
The event was held at Sanofi’s Gentilly Campus and co-hosted by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) and Sanofi. Around 100 practitioners came from across Europe: The United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, Poland, and France. The conversation centered on climate resilience, occupant health, and the built environment’s role in both

The building as a health tool
The day opened with welcoming remarks from Ann-Marie Aguilar, Senior Vice President, EMEA at IWBI. Her framing set the register for what followed: healthy buildings aren’t a premium option for flagship projects. They’re a public health tool.
As organizations face climate-related risks, rising healthcare costs, and growing pressure on ESG performance in real estate, the built environment is one of the few levers that addresses all three, but only when designed and operated to do so.

Practitioners from real estate, finance, healthcare, and sustainability worked through a shared question: what does it cost when buildings fail the people inside them? In healthcare spending, in talent attrition, (see IWBI’s Investing in Health Pays Back report) in climate vulnerability? The conversations didn’t produce single answers. They produced better questions. “
Resilience is hope
The quote that stayed with our team came from Gwenaël Jan, Founder of G-ON:
“By definition, resilience is hope. If we talk about resilience in buildings, it’s because we have hope that we will still be here in the future.” — Gwenaël Jan, Founder of G-ON
Six words to carry the day. It named something that technical standards leave unspoken: the conviction that buildings can actually protect people from what’s coming. That conviction was audible in the climate risk discussions, in the cross-sector attendance, and in the choice to hold this summit in a life sciences campus built around the same premise.

About Sanofi
Sanofi is a global pharmaceutical and healthcare company headquartered in Paris. Its Gentilly Campus, located just south of the city center, is a principal European research and administrative site.
The campus co-hosted the WELL 2026 Climate & Health Summit alongside IWBI, reflecting Sanofi’s AIR sustainability strategy, the company’s publicly stated framework linking health outcomes to environmental action across its operations and research processes.
We’re grateful to IWBI and Sanofi for a day where those commitments moved from declaration to dialogue. We look forward to the work these shapes across BEE’s European projects.
