About the project

High Point University undertook a complete lighting retrofit for three of their buildings on campus to LED lighting. BEE conducted an in-depth daylight and artificial lighting simulation that aimed at optimizing the retrofit by identifying specifically which lights should be replaced and locating other energy saving strategies such as motion and daylight sensors in strategic locations. The team subsequently completed an artificial lighting simulation of the LED’s to ensure that the new lights would emit the same (or better) light levels then before – ensuring that no disruption to the students or staff would occur. At the completion of our simulations we were able to save the university thousands of dollars from the retrofit, which itself will save the university over 1 million USD over 10 year.
